At Serenity, we have recognized the need in our community for those who are facing chronic illness or struggling to manage symptoms of an illness or injury.
Comfort Care, also known as Palliative Care (pronounced pal-lee-uh-tiv) is specialized medical care for people with chronic illnesses. It is focused on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness—whatever the diagnosis. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
Our Palliative Care Program that we call “Comfort Care“is provided by a Nurse Practitioner who works together with a patient's primary physician to provide an extra layer of support. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness. Comfort Care is provided in your home even if you are seeking aggressive medical treatment that is intended to cure you.
Comfort Care may be right for you if you suffer from pain, stress or other symptoms due to a serious illness. Serious Illnesses may include cancer, cardiac disease, respiratory disease, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s, HIV/Aids, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis (MS), and more.
You can receive Comfort Care simply by asking for it. Tell your doctor, nurse, caregiver, or family that you want Comfort Care. At Serenity, we do not bill for Comfort Care, this program is absolutely free.
